History Of Consciousness

Bart Feberwee is a PhD student in the History of Consciousness department. He is broadly interested in questions of carcerality, arcs of capital (dis)accumulation, and labor history. In his research, he investigates prison protests and urban riots in their relation to dominant conceptions of civility as they developed in the 1960s and 70s. Within this narrative, he is especially interested in the relationship between civility, property, and whiteness. His research draws on and speaks to a variety of disciplines and methodologies including critical theory, visual analysis, Black radical thought, (peripheral) Marxist traditions, and game-theoretic modeling.
